What is fog? Fog is a cloud of tiny water droplets suspended in the air.
12 tips for driving in the fog:
- Slow down.
- Be aware that fog can thicken without warning.
- Be sure you can stop within the space you can see.
- Go easy on your brakes on wet roads.
- Be prepared to stop quickly.
- Do not use cruise control.
- Turn on your lights (but not high beams) and flashers to maximize visibility.
- Use lines on the right edge of the road as a guide.
- Turn off your music/radio and listen for traffic hidden by the fog.
- Don’t change lanes unless absolutely necessary.
- Signal turns extra early.
Quick fact: Heavy fog reduces visibility to ¼ mile or less.
